Ever since I was a kid, I was known as a basketball player. I could have been because I was tall. My junior year of high school I didn’t make the basketball team. I quickly made the pivot and joined Key Club, where I found my new favorite high school activity. It was there I became a service leader, organized my own service projects and ultimately developed multiple topics to write essays about when I was applying for scholarships. I ended up getting enough scholarships that not only did I get to go to college for free, I got PAID to do it. This wouldn’t have happened if I had made the basketball team.
